From this moment, many families have plans to take their children on trips or enroll them in summer classes. Exploiting that demand, scams have been set up.

Hotel booking scams have been rampant for quite some time, yet many people still fall for them despite the tricks being old. Especially during this time, as summer approaches and the demand for travel increases, scammers are becoming even more active.

Mr. Ngô Minh Hiếu, Director of the Anti-Fraud Project (Vietnam), confirmed that the situation of impersonating websites and fanpages of resorts, hotels, and tourist areas is currently very common. The scammers use Facebook pages that closely resemble the original, and some even have verification badges to deceive people looking to book travel accommodations. To increase reliability, the perpetrators also run advertisements on the Facebook page with tens of thousands of followers, including a hotline number for contact and consultation, create “fake” comments praising the service, and self-initiate promotional programs with attractive prices, thereby attracting customers to contact for consultation and make deposit transfers.

After the buyer deposits the money, the scammer informs the customer that the transfer details were incorrect and requests a refund to be confirmed by the “accounting department” to return the excess amount. However, after multiple transfers, the perpetrators will block communication and seize the entire amount transferred by the victim.

Summer school registration also gets scammed. Summer is also the time when the demand for summer courses for children increases. These individuals exploit this psychology to run advertisements and commit fraud to seize assets.

In recent days, police agencies in several localities in Vietnam have been warning about this form of fraud. The Ministry of Public Security has even sent SMS messages to mobile subscribers to raise public awareness. Specifically, there is currently a situation where criminals are creating websites and Facebook pages impersonating universities and training centers, advertising semester training courses, military and police summer camps… for children in order to reach parents in need and entice them to pay to participate, thereby appropriating their assets.

Police agencies in many localities advise the public to be more vigilant, only register and transfer money after thoroughly understanding the information of the organizing unit. Similarly, with the situation of scams involving hotel bookings, cheap flight tickets, and bus tickets, authorities advise the public that when booking on online platforms, they should carefully check the website address, ensure it has a security certificate (a padlock icon in the top left corner of the browser), and has a clear address.

Proactively contact the hotel directly before making a payment through the contact information on the official website, such as the hotline number or sending an email directly to verify information about the room and services; do not follow any requests or instructions to transfer money to individuals for reasons such as incorrect text message syntax or money being held in the system… Absolutely do not download strange applications or click on unidentified links from third parties. You should only book through reputable platforms because they have payment protection systems and refund policies in case of issues.

Hè đến, lại rộ lừa đảo du lịch, học thêm (từ THANH NIÊN ONLINE)

Ngay từ thời điểm này, nhiều gia đình đã có kế hoạch đưa con cái đi du lịch, hoặc đăng ký các khóa học thêm mùa hè. Lợi dụng nhu cầu đó, các chiêu trò lừa đảo đã được giăng ra.

Lừa đảo đặt phòng khách sạn đã rộ lên khá lâu, thế nhưng vẫn rất nhiều người sập bẫy dù chiêu trò không mới. Đặc biệt thời gian này, khi mùa hè sắp tới, nhu cầu du lịch tăng cao, các đối tượng lừa đảo càng hoạt động ráo riết.

Ông Ngô Minh Hiếu, Giám đốc dự án Chống lừa đảo (Việt Nam), xác nhận tình hình mạo danh các website, fanpage của các resort, khách sạn, khu du lịch hiện nay rất phổ biến. Các đối tượng lừa đảo sử dụng trang Facebook có giao diện gần giống với chính chủ, thậm chí trang Facebook còn có cả tích xanh để đánh lừa người có nhu cầu đặt phòng du lịch. Nhằm tăng độ tin cậy, các đối tượng còn chạy quảng cáo trang Facebook với hàng chục nghìn lượt theo dõi, có cả số hotline để liên hệ, tư vấn, tạo các bình luận “ảo” khen ngợi, tự đưa ra các chương trình khuyến mại với mức giá hấp dẫn, qua đó thu hút khách hàng liên hệ tư vấn và chuyển khoản đặt cọc.

Sau khi ngườI mua phòng đặt cọc, đối tượng lừa đảo lại thông báo khách hàng chuyển sai nội dung và yêu cầu chuyển lại tiền để “bộ phận kế toán” xác nhận và hoàn lại số tiền thừa. Tuy nhiên, sau nhiều lần chuyển khoản, các đối tượng sẽ chặn liên lạc và chiếm đoạt toàn bộ số tiền chuyển khoản của nạn nhân.

Đăng ký học hè cũng bị lừa Mùa hè cũng là thời điểm nhu cầu tìm kiếm khóa học hè cho con tăng cao. Các đối tượng khai thác tâm lý này để chạy quảng cáo và lừa đảo chiếm đoạt tài sản.

Liên tiếp những ngày gần đây, cơ quan công an tại một số địa phương Việt Nam đã cảnh báo về hình thức lừa đảo này. Bộ Công an còn gửi tin nhắn SMS đến các thuê bao di động để nâng cao ý thức cảnh giác cho người dân. Cụ thể, hiện nay đang xuất hiện tình trạng tội phạm tạo lập các website, Facebook giả mạo các trường đại học, trung tâm đào tạo, quảng cáo các khóa huấn luyện học kỳ, trại hè quân đội, công an… cho trẻ em nhằm tiếp cận phụ huynh có nhu cầu và dụ dỗ nạp tiền tham gia để chiếm đoạt tài sản.

Cơ quan công an nhiều địa phương khuyến cáo người dân cần nâng cao cảnh giác, chỉ đăng ký tham gia và chuyển tiền khi đã tìm hiểu rõ thông tin của đơn vị tổ chức. Tương tự, với tình trạng lừa đảo đặt phòng khách sạn, vé máy bay, vé xe giá rẻ…, cơ quan chức năng khuyến cáo người dân khi đặt phòng trên các nền tảng trực tuyến, cần lưu ý kiểm tra kỹ địa chỉ website, có chứng chỉ bảo mật (biểu tượng khóa ở góc trên bên trái của trình duyệt) và có địa chỉ rõ ràng.

Chủ động liên hệ trực tiếp với khách sạn trước khi thanh toán thông qua các thông tin liên hệ trên trang chính thức như số hotline hoặc gửi email trực tiếp để xác minh thông tin về phòng và dịch vụ; không làm theo các yêu cầu, hướng dẫn chuyển tiền cho các đối tượng vì những lý do như sai cú pháp nhắn tin, bị treo tiền trên hệ thống… Tuyệt đối không tải xuống các ứng dụng lạ hay ấn vào các đường link không xác định từ bên thứ ba. Chỉ nên đặt phòng qua các nền tảng uy tín vì có hệ thống bảo vệ thanh toán và các chính sách hoàn tiền nếu xảy ra sự cố.
