Like a recurring refrain every Tet holiday, the story of restaurants, parking lots, or transportation services “overcharging” customers once again stirs public opinion. Despite public opposition and management measures, the situation of price gouging and forcing customers continues to occur widely at many tourist spots and festivals.
Price gouging during the festival season
In the early days of the Year of the Snake, many tourists had to lament when they fell into the situation of being “pickpocketed” by unbelievable prices. A woman recounted the story of being charged… 900,000 VND for two bowls of pho at a restaurant near the train tracks in province H. at. “A bowl of pho with just a few strands of noodles and a few pieces of beef costing 450,000 VND can no longer be called expensive, but rather ‘ripping off’ customers,” the woman said.
This situation is not only happening at restaurants but also appearing at many parking lots around major festival sites. At famous tourist sites such as Yên Tử, Bái Đính, Tây Thiên… in Northern Vietnam, many locals complain that they have to pay three to four times the regular parking fee. But since they didn’t ask beforehand, when they were charged a high price, the tourists had no choice but to reluctantly pay.
Passenger buses take advantage of price increases.
Not only restaurants, but also passenger transport services have taken this opportunity to raise prices. At the major bus stations, although the number of passengers is not too high, many bus companies still take advantage of the beginning of the year to raise prices indiscriminately.
Not only that, the situation of overloading passengers is also common. Many passengers reported that the bus carried more people than allowed, making the journey extremely exhausting.
Resolutely handle violations
According to reports, many localities have implemented strict measures such as setting up hotlines, conducting surprise inspections, and penalizing violating establishments. However, the handling of the situation remains difficult as most price hikes are conducted through verbal agreements, without clear documentation.
Although there have been many deterrent measures, if there is no more decisive action from the authorities, the situation of “overcharging” tourists will continue to recur, affecting the tourism environment and public trust. It is time for stronger sanctions, even revoking the operating licenses of severely violating establishments, to put an end to this situation.
Mạnh tay xử lý tình trạng “chặt chém” đầu năm
Như một điệp khúc lặp lại mỗi dịp Tết đến xuân về, câu chuyện về những quán ăn, bãi giữ xe hay dịch vụ vận tải “chặt chém” khách lại khiến dư luận xôn xao. Bất chấp sự phản đối của người dân và các biện pháp quản lý, tình trạng hét giá, ép khách vẫn diễn ra tràn lan tại nhiều điểm du lịch, lễ hội.
Chặt chém giữa mùa lễ hội
Trong những ngày đầu năm mới Con Rắn, không ít du khách đã phải ngậm ngùi khi rơi vào cảnh “bị móc túi” bởi những mức giá không tưởng. Một phụ nữ đã kể lại câu chuyện bị một quán phở gần đường tàu ở tỉnh H tính giá… 900.000 đồng cho hai tô phở. “Một tô phở lèo tèo vài sợi bánh, vài miếng thịt bò mà giá tới 450.000 đồng thì không thể gọi là đắt nữa, mà là ‘cắt cổ’ khách hàng,” bà choi biết.
Tình trạng này không chỉ diễn ra ở các hàng quán mà còn xuất hiện tại nhiều bãi giữ xe quanh các điểm lễ hội lớn. Tại các danh thắng nổi tiếng như Yên Tử, Bái Đính, Tây Thiên… ở miền Bắc VIệt Nam, nhiều người dân than phiền rằng họ phải trả gấp ba, gấp bốn lần giá vé gửi xe ngày thường. Nhưng vì không hỏi trước, đến khi bị tính giá cao, du khách đành ngậm ngùi móc hầu bao.
Xe khách tranh thủ tăng giá
Không chỉ các quán ăn, dịch vụ vận tải hành khách cũng nhân dịp này đẩy giá lên cao. Tại các bến xe lớn,, dù lượng khách không quá đông nhưng nhiều nhà xe vẫn lợi dụng dịp đầu năm để tăng giá vô tội vạ.
Không chỉ vậy, tình trạng nhồi nhét khách cũng diễn ra phổ biến. Nhiều hành khách phản ánh xe chở quá số người quy định, khiến hành trình trở nên vô cùng mệt mỏi.
Quyết liệt xử lý vi phạm
Theo ghi nhận, nhiều địa phương đã triển khai các biện pháp mạnh tay như lập đường dây nóng, kiểm tra đột xuất và xử phạt các cơ sở vi phạm. Tuy nhiên, việc xử lý vẫn còn nhiều khó khăn khi phần lớn các giao dịch tăng giá đều được thực hiện bằng thỏa thuận miệng, không có chứng từ rõ ràng.
Dù đã có nhiều biện pháp răn đe, nhưng nếu không có sự quyết liệt hơn từ cơ quan chức năng, tình trạng “chặt chém” du khách vẫn sẽ tiếp tục tái diễn, ảnh hưởng đến môi trường du lịch và lòng tin của người dân. Đã đến lúc cần những chế tài mạnh mẽ hơn, thậm chí là rút giấy phép hoạt động của những cơ sở vi phạm nghiêm trọng, để chấm dứt tình trạng này.
